The holistic approach to skin care: Rosemira Organics

A couple of months ago I received a very lovely package from Rosemira Organics. With her passion for skin care, Mira Herman created a brand that aims to provide nourishing ingredients to deliver healthy, ageless skin.

Mira, who started out as a herbalist, made her first cream moisturizer at 19. She then went on to become a chiropractor and acupuncturist. Rosemira Organics encompasses her expert knowledge of whole body health and skin care – giving birth to a line of handcrafted products that helps to balance your skin using the most nutritious, high quality ingredients.

Pineapples and Cream cleansing milk*:  A very light cream product, this smells mildly of pineapples. It is a very gentle cleanser, nothing too wow. While the milky nature means soothed skin after washing off (a must for the cold months), I don’t find I get the completely clean feel. Not that I want ‘squeaky clean’ – that’s a no-no because you don’t want to strip your skin of its natural oils, but I thought my face was not ‘clean enough’. It should work fine for a morning cleanse, however if you wear make-up then you’ll need something ‘stronger’. Also note the cleanser does contain phenoxyethanol, in case you’re one who has issues with this preservative.

Ingredients: *Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Juice; Lactose (Milk); *Organic Distillates of Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) and Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile); *Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil; *Organic Honey Powder; *Organic Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Hydrosol; Ananus Communis (Pineapple) Fruit Extract; Vegetable Glycerine; Emulsifying Wax NF; Palm Stearic Acid; *Organic Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil; Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Essential Oil; Citrus Clementine (Clementine) Essential Oil; Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar cane) Extract; *Organic Acer Saccharinum (Sugar Maple) Extract; Organic Citrus Auranium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract; Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Extract; *Organic Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Extract; *Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract; Food Grade Polysaccharide Gum (Xantham Gum); Mannan; Phenoxyethanol; Tetrasodium Edta; Citric Acid (*Certified Organic Ingredients)

Spring Flowers Calming toner*: HANDS DOWN my favorite item of all. This neroli-based hydrosol is incredibly, what else, calming, and it also smells divine! Essential oils of neroli and bulgarian rose helps balance sebum, and lemon verbana soothes thirsty winter skin immediately. Dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skins will find this an instant relieve. It was a sad day when I ran out of this lovely hydrosol.

Ingredients: *Organic Citrus Aurantium (Neroli) Hydrosol; Aloysia Triphylla (Lemon Verbena) Hydrosol; Aqua (Water) Distilled; *Organic Rosa Damascene (Bulgarian Rose) Essential Oil; A blend of 100% Steam-Distilled Organic or Wild Crafted Essential Oils (*Certified Organic Ingredients)

See Me C Repair serum*: This is a marula-based oil and I was excited to try it out as I’ve not had experience with marula oil yet. Rosemira described this to be ‘a great summer serum’, but I feel the opposite of that. Although it has quite light consistency, you do need to take a few more moments for the oil to be completely absorbed. Paired with pomegranate seed oil, See Me C delivers the antioxidants to your skin, along with frankincense, lemon verbana, and rose to rejuvenate and counter aging. Over my period of use, I find this helps with overall brightening and general health of the skin.

Ingredients: *Organic Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Oil; *Organic Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil; Somalian Boswellia Carterii Birdwell (Frankincense) Essential Oil; Tilia Cordata Mil (Linden Blossom) Absolute; * Aloysia Triphylla (Lemon Verbena) Essential Oil; *Rosa Damascene (Rose Otto) Essential Oil. (*Certified Organic Ingredients)

Divine Honey Rose Replenishing cream*: My second fave of the lot, this has surprisingly a light, whipped texture. However, instructions say to use sparingly as it contains ultra-hydrating ingredients. Honey essential, Kenyan olive, and Chinese borage seed oil make a super moisturizing blend, and carries a wonderful perfume-like scent. Just a light dip into this mousse and it’s sufficient to deeply nourish the skin, leaving the skin satiny and supple.

Ingredients: *Organic Rosa Damascene (Rose) Hydrosol; * Organic Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Extra-Virgin; *Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil; *Organic Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil; *Organic Rosa Rubiginosa (Rose Hips ) Seed & Pulp Oil; * Organic Rosa Damascene (Rose) Concrete; Sodium Borate, Cosmetic Grade; Xanthomonas Campestris (Xanthan Gum) Food Grade; Stearic Acid (100% palm Derived); A Proprietary Blend of 100% Steam-Distilled, Organic, or Wild-Crafted Essential Oils. (*Certified Organic Ingredients)

Lavender & Geranium Deep Cleansing masque*: Yet another firm favorite of mine from the brand, this Kaolin clay mask is enhanced with Moroccan argan oil to prevent over-drying of the skin. To extend shelf life, the clay and masque liquid containing essential oils of lavender and geranium come separate. Mix both in a shallow dish to form a thin paste. The dead sea salt comes into play where you soak a wash cloth in warm water that’s mixed with the salts, to wipe off the mask. I was very curious about this extra step, and consulted with Mira herself. This is reply from her:
The mineral content and concentration of dead sea salt is unique. It contains Oxides of Silicon, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Sodium, Potassium, Sulfur, Phosphorus, and Bromide to name a few. According to research, skin disorders like Acne & Psoriasis are relieved by soaking in water with added Dead Sea Salt. The high concentration of Magnesium specifically has proven instrumental in improving skin hydration and removing inflammation. And additional research has shown 40% reduction in depth of existing wrinkles, so now there is the added benefit of repair and prevention of skin ageing.

Is there any other better way to incorporate this highly beneficial mineral compound? With added ‘benefits of increased circulation, deep detoxifying, hydrating and rejuvenating’ properties for the skin, I’ll never look at dead sea salts the same way again. And indeed, wiping off the mask after 20 minutes revealed clearer and cleaner skin that doesn’t feel tight or dry, which can happen with some clay-based masks. My pores were also almost invisible.

A quick check back with Mira, I was told that the Lavender & Geranium Deep Cleansing masque is a great overall preventative treatment and awesome for hormonal spots. She added that it’s safe to use twice a day, especially when you’re facing active breakouts. My sample only lasted me 2 uses, which I wished I had saved for a “rainy day” as I recently had a cystic spot that took longer than usual to go away. Definitely need a full size of this power mask!

Ingredients: White Cosmetic Kaolin Clay; *Organic Moroccan Argania Spinosa ( Argan) Oil, Cold-Pressed, Extra-Virgin, Fair-Trade; *Organic French Lavender Mailette (Lavender) Hydrosol; *Organic French Lavender Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil; *Organic Egyptian Pelargonium x Asperum(Geranium) Essential Oil; *Vegetable Glycerine, 100% Palm derived; Aqua (Water) Distilled; *Organic Italian Citrus Limonum (Lemon Rind) Essential Oil, Cold Pressed. (*Certified Organic Ingredients)

I’m really happy to have been able to try out the Rosemira line. The company is PETA and Leaping Bunny-approved, and most recently they’re carried at select Whole Foods stores. Both Mira and Kathryn, the social media representative, have been very kind and helpful in answering my queries promptly. Mira offers skin consultations and you can get product samples at very affordable prices. Also do check out their body and hair care range, which all sound equally as divine as their skin care.

Thanks Amber! I’m starting to love cleansing milks more now. In the past I never take a second look at them as my skin was pretty much combination/oily. Now I’ve begun to appreciate how calm they make my skin feel. :)
